What We Do

With a commitment to developing character, self-esteem and discipline in both youth and adults through the sport of tennis, the Foundation provides opportunities to play tennis for all ages and skill levels.

Over the past six years, the Foundation has donated over $30,000 to a variety of tennis programs. These grants include :

  • Schools Tennis (both public & private schools) $5,500
  • Youth Tennis $4,000
  • PAL (Pinellas County Sherriff’s Police Athletic League) $2,600
  • Facilities (both public and private) $3,150
  • Adaptive & Wheelchair Tennis $2,550
  • Tennis Publications & On-line Monthly Newsletter (reaching over 2,000 readers) $2,250
  • Individual Youth Scholarships (summer camps, instruction, etc.) $2,700

  • Other Charity Organizations (including charity tennis tournaments, Suncoast Hospice) $1,900
  • YMCA Summer Programs $1,000
  • And More!

In addition to the direct donations from the Foundation, we have enabled Pinellas County School Board to receive nearly $30,000 in free tennis equipment to use for physical education classes and after-school programs.

The Foundation has formed partnerships with the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Suncoast, Humane Society of Pinellas, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Chi Chi Rodriguez Foundation, R’Clubs, Suncoast Hospice, First Serve/Courier’s Kids program to benefit inner city youth, Girl Scouts of the Suncoast, American Cancer Society and many more organizations that benefit from their involvement with STF and USTA. In April 2014, STF partnered with UPARC and the City of Clearwater to start an on-going Adaptive Tennis Program for the UPARC consumers.

We also collect used tennis racquets that are in good, playable shape and give them to those in need. STF has facilitated giving over 1,000 free used tennis racquets that have been refurbished at no cost by Advantage Yours Tennis Shop in Clearwater and thousands of used tennis balls to elementary, middle and high school programs and nonprofit organizations.

Our major fundraising activity, the Tournament of Champions, is held every year. It is an invitation-only event featuring the winners, semi-finalists, finalists and consolation winners of all the previous year’s charity tennis tournaments held in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. An invitation to the Tournament of Champions has become a much sought after prize! The money raised from the Tournament goes back into our community to support our vital tennis programs.
